I was inspired by a book which I was read in my twenties. Perec’s style, with its mix of irony and a cold, almost clinical observation of society, spoke to me. In my youthful and idealistic attempt to define my own path, it appealed to me as a call to reject society’s materialism and consumerism. This novel is written by George Perec‘s titled Things.
A story of the sixties was read, in the 1960s, as a sociological novel, and, very often, as a denunciation of consumer capitalism.
