TIMEA ANITA ORAVECZ

 Cosmopolitan, 2009
Video installation, 3 videos, languages: Italian, German, Hungarian,
each video 06:30 min.

The video installation Cosmopolitan resumes the topic of Time Lost. Speaking different languages (Hungarian, Italian and German), the artist is here seen recounting the absurd difficulties she faced when changing residence across these countries. She dispassionately lists the forgeries and lies that she had to resort to because of self-contradictory regulations within the EU.
Hers is another topical narrative of social and professional mobility from the periphery to the centre, in which the individual is still driven to use illicit means to achieve her goal. Notably, however, Oravecz no longer chooses to fall back on feminine allure in order to arrive.
